PERSONAL COLOR CORRECTION

2018, video installation
55 inch Flatscreen with speakers, 05:23 min loop
122 x 68 cm

This video work looks at the beginnings of film history and illuminates the interface between analog and digital techniques of coloring and color correction in film production. The starting point of the video was the work of the film colorist, a profession within analog film production that used to be performed exclusively by women. Archive images of the film colorists from the Walt Disney Studios from 1938, self-made video material, performative scenes, self-painted analog film and found footage from the Internet are combined in this video. Generative music can be heard on the audio track, which reacts to the light impulses of the video.
