In collaboration with Kristina Paustian
The starting point for the essay film Relocating a Structure is Maria Eichhorn‘s contribution to the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2022. The film explores Eichhorn‘s concept of relocating the building of the German Pavilion for the duration of the exhibition as a cinematic thought experiment. What would happen if the German Pavilion were to disappear for a few months? What stories could be told through the empty space created? Through various voices from the fields of architecture, art and activism, this essay film shows a critical approach to German history and combines the fascist architecture of the German Pavilion with a detailed search for traces of historical and contemporary resistance movements in Venice.
